One of Chicago's oldest neighborhoods, Old Town, was settled by German-Catholic immigrants in the mid-19th century. In the 1960s, it was home to the hippie culture. Today, the area north of downtown Chicago is an affluent residential neighborhood that welcomes visitors to its small clothing boutiques, specialty shops and local Chicago eateries. Old Town includes the Lincoln Park neighborhood, Chicago's Near North Side and the Old Town Triangle, designated a Chicago Landmark. Visitors looking for lodging near Old Town will find hotels offering a choice of accommodations and amenities less than a mile away.
